McLarens are pretty easy to understand: a shared carbon tub, a shared twin-turbo V8, and lots of variations everywhere else. This looks like the newest take on the formula, the 688HS.

This image turned up on the reasonably reliable Netherlands car site AutoGespot (which we noticed first on CarScoops) and it looks like it tells the whole story of the car already.

In McLaren nomenclature, the 688 refers to the car’s metric horsepower figure and the rest is pretty much as you see it. It’s a 675 but with even more aero, notably a fat fixed wing. Because you can’t expect to pull up to your villa on the Amalfi coast without a couple hundred pounds of downforce at hand.

Anything beyond that—how they are setting up the suspension, what they’re doing to get their 13 more horsepower, how many of these cars they’ll be building—is speculation at the moment.

More information as we get it.
