Sweden: land of perpetual northern darkness, death metal and obsessive fascinations with American cars. One such group of evil Swedes swapped out the hulking 6.2-liter V8 from a C6 Corvette and in its place grafted a 2.3 liter four-cylinder. There’s an odd reason why, other than the usual blasphemy.
As posted by the excellent Engine Swap Depot, this Corvette now has a 2.0-liter Opel four cylinder embiggened to 2.3 liters and heavily boosted by a GTX28 Garett turbocharger.
The dyno shop running the car, MaxxTuning, claim a strong 409 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, or about 468 horsepower at the crank. That’s not an inconsiderable amount of grunt, and it comes with a fun redline of what looks like something above 8,000 RPM.
The car was built for TKS Racing in the SLC Racing series, a kind of oddball endurance racing series with similar cars you might see at an AER race here in America. SLC Racing limits engine size, so that explains the massive displacement drop in this engine swap.
Also, look at how much empty space there is in that engine bay.
Bizarre.
