These Are The Most Embarrassing Cars On Sale Today
These vehicles make you feel genuine shame for whoever buys them. Tough, but fair.
We're living in embarrassing times, folks, which means you're probably better off if your car isn't embarrassing as well. Unfortunately for some, there are a lot of vehicles out there that are downright humiliating to be caught behind the wheel of. That's what led me to my question from last week.
I wanted to know what you all thought was the most embarrassing car on sale today. There's a lot on here you'd expect, from coupe SUVs and a smattering of Teslas to wannabe muscle cars and ostentatious luxury vehicles, but there's also plenty that might surprise you. I just hope you're car isn't on the list, or you're going to have a very bad day.
Anyway, you didn't come here to listen to me yap. Why don't you go ahead and start clicking to see what your fellow Jalops consider to be the most embarrassing cars on sale today? We all know our commentors are a great judge of character.
Jeep Gladiator
We all know it's the Cyber Truck, but I'm going to say the Jeep Gladiator. It isn't good at anything but projecting an image that says "I am a cargo shorts and wrap-around Oakley enthusiast who lies about attending Ranger school."

Ford Mustang EcoBoost
EcoBoost Mustang. I understand that the 0-60 times are below the V8 muscle cars we all wax nostalgic on from 20+ years ago. I understand that they also deliver 30+ mpg on the highway. But still every time I see a pony on the back instead of the GT, and the V8 rumble is replaced by the rasp of the 4 cylinder, I can only think that the driver could not afford the V8 option and / or the insurance. I would hedge on this back when you could get a manual with the EcoBoost for a true sleeper / driver's car to take to the track, but sadly that is no longer the case.

GMC Hummer EV
The EV Hummer, proper douche bro machine.

The Hummer EV. Saw one on the road here in Dubai the other day and that is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. It was a red, I guess you would call it a pick-up, and it was enormous and embarrassing in every way. In a city of road going pe...extensions that one took the cake.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan
The "on sale today" caveat makes this harder, because there are a lot of mods that make cars embarrassing (I'm talking about you, Carolina squat). But for cars currently for sale that are embarrassing, I'm going with the Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV. Ugly, fat, and ungainly, as well as ridiculously expensive for what it is. Put that $400K into an index fund, rich people, and use it to fund a college scholarship program or something. Don't embarrass yourself by driving this.

Nissan Murano
Since the aluminum abomination has been covered. Let's go with the Nissan Murano. In part because Nissan thought people would want a convertible version of this. In part because it's gone 10 years without any significant improvements. In part because the sunroof on these kept finding new ways to fail. But mainly because there isn't a single thing the Murano does better than it's competitors; value, performance, handling, design. Nothing. It's not even available in orange anymore!

Entry-Level European Luxury
Any entry-level European luxury car – the BMW 2-Series GranCoupe, the Mercedes A/CLA-Class, the Audi A3. I'll include the X1, GLA, Q3, Jaguar e-Pace, Alfa Romeo Tonale, etc. as well.
These cars are so far removed from what their respective manufacturers represent, but they're attractive for people who enjoy the image that the badge provides, and they're often offered for lease deals that cost only a little more than a more sensible Honda Civic or Mazda 3, cars that feature equal levels of refinement, fit & finish while offering far more equipment and lower maintenance costs.
I've been in high-end car sales & marketing for the past 7 years, and everyone who brings these cars in for trade are in terrible financial positions.

Subaru Solterra
The Subaru Solterra. It is so embarassing to drive that I've never actually seen anyone drive one in real life. In fact I've never seen one anywhere. Subaru saw a sale on grey plastic cladding and said yes, we will take all of it.

Lamborghini Urus
Lamborghini Urus "hey look at me i'm rich enough to afford a 'lambo' everyone give me attention"
Ford Maverick
Here's kind of a weird take: the Ford Maverick is embarrassing. Not to Ford, though. It's embarrassing because it is a HUGE success, but no other automaker seems to be able to create their own version! It should be so simple!!! Just take your small CUV, lengthen the wheelbase a bit, and add a bed!
Hyundai has tried with the Santa Cruz, but it's not available as a hybrid, which is one of the things that makes the Maverick so good! Plus the bed is too small! And no Kia version?
Ford has sold every one it can build, and it just keeps building more! Clearly there's a demand for this type vehicle, but all the other carmakers are just, like, "Huh, how about that. Welp, we'll just keep making generic crossovers."

BMW XM
BMW wanted their own obnoxious halo SUV to cater to people that like AMG G-Wagens and Lambo Urus', so they decided to make it a dedicated M car, a first since the legendary M1.
The resulting product is falling short on every bragging rights possible. It cannot offroad like the G-Wagen, and it's not fast or engaging as the Urus and it's the ugliest vehicle on the road.
The good news is that BMW seems to be getting the comeuppance it deserves with this one, as the XM has been poorly received by both the press and public, and the thing is not selling.

Hyundai Ioniq 6
From some angles its almost a 4 door Porschesque look but not in a good way yet, from other angles it reminds me of the old Cadillace Seville with that abbreviated trunk. In either case its an awkward car that just reached too far.

Hellcats
I'd never shame someone for buying a cheap or otherwise boring car. Some people don't have disposable income and/or care about vehicles beyond basic conveyance.
What I do find cringeworthy, however, is anyone driving a helldemonkittykat Dodge. They, by and large, have no driving skills beyond the ability to push their right foot forward and somehow think they are impressing everyone while actually just pissing everyone off. Doubly embarrassing when they somehow got themselves into a monthly payment which rivals their rent.
Their lack of self-awareness is truly embarrassing.
And yes, I know they technically don't still make these, but they are still on sale today as new cars.

Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen
I don't care about whatever performance on or off road they are capable of and neither do their buyers.
It is an ugly vehicle meant to be show off wealth and power.
It is a platinum plated nutsack.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe
It breaks my heart to say it, but it has to be the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe. After my kids grew up and I no longer needed a minivan, and I fixed my credit, I bought my dream car, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Then got a newer one every two years for the next decade (I'm a car sales professional, we upgrade a lot). My latest one will be my last. The 4xe offered and delivered some decent fuel economy and some short electric range that worked great for my short commute. But, as I'm in car sales, I've watched the quality, reliability and value of Jeeps drop. And trade in values of the 4xe has just been plummeting. You don't have to look far to find multiple stories of inexplicable breakdowns. And then there's the fire recall. We're not supposed to charge them or park them near our homes or other cars. Nice. The saddest and most embarrassing thing you could buy right now is the 4xe. And it breaks my heart. Oh what could have been.

Transporting no more than 2 people ever? Almost certainly yes.
