These Are The Most Boring Cars You Can Buy Right Now
SUVs, sedans, and even sports cars can all be boring, according to our readers anyway.
Apparently, it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. But sadly, that's not a mantra the world's car makers heard after Marilyn Monroe said it. As such, we've been inundated with bland blobs on wheels for years now.
Whether its dull looks, bland handling, or tedious power, a lot can make a car pretty damn boring. But to find out what cars are the worst offenders out there, we turned to you and asked for your picks of the most boring cars you can buy right now.
We got a lot of good responses, so flick through the following slides and see if you agree with these suggestions.
Nissan Sentra
"I'd hand it to the Sentra, personally. The current Versa at least retains a manual option and has a shocking amount of interior volume – both good things going for one of the cheapest cars on sale right now.
"The Sentra is the also-ran that I honestly forgot they were still making."
If it's bland enough for you to forget it exists, then it's dull enough for a place on our list.

Chevrolet Trax
"Recently announced as dead but still on new car lots. The Chevy Trax, pure mediocrity from stem to stern and inside and out."
The Chevrolet Trax might be getting chopped from GM's lineup at the end of 2022, but it's still on sale today. And that means this uninspiring blob gets its spot on this list.

Toyota Corolla Cross
"Surely the Corolla Cross must take the cake.
"It is truly a microwave with wheels."
How does this uninspired SUV share a nameplate with one of the coolest hot hatchbacks we've seen in years? The world's gone mad.

Nissan Versa
"A Nissan Versa. But it's actually not a bad car if you're aware of the engine limitations."
Another bland Nissan sedan. Heck, at least Nissan is still making a range of acceptably-sized sedans.

Toyota Camry
"Any Camry. Yeah that's right, the Camry is boring as all hell."
Any Camry? Even this nice dark blue one? And what about the firm's next-gen cup car?

Ford EcoSport
"Ford EcoSport. Ford's marketing team even had to blur 90% of the image to try and make it look exciting."
Another bland, boring compact SUV that, for some reason, is bought by thousands of people every year.

This Boring Machine
"China Hard-Rock TBM ZTT7930 Tunnel Boring Machine $500,000.00.
"#Dadjokes! Time to thrown on the jorts, lace up the white NBs and take on the day."
Ha, good one.

Ram 1500
"I go with the regular cab Dodge Ram, uh, Ram 1500 Tradesman model—complete with a good-sized bed that lets you get actual work done.
"18" wheels with puh-lenty of rubber to absorb shocks from the shitty roads, no whiz-bang sound system, no mega-infotainment center, no obscene levels of Hellcat horsepower; but hey, you get a "classy" all-vinyl interior. (And especially no whopper monthly payments—you're buying what you need, not options you probably don't want.)
"You know: a real truck — a boring vehicle that gets it done when you need it done."
So a boring truck is, in fact, a good truck? Interesting.

Toyota Prius
"Toyota Prius, a car made for people who dislike driving. While some generations look interesting the driving experience is pure Novocaine."
The Prius definitely looks interesting, I'll give it that.

Scion FR-S
"Scion FRS / Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ 1st gen
"200hp boring, on paper it has more power than Miata MX5 but it feels sluggish and boring."
Don't shoot the messenger, but this is a real opinion from a real Jalopnik commenter.

Tesla
"Teslas. They were cool for the first few years, but nothing new is being done with them."
All that electric power is fast and exciting off the line. But the overly minimalist interior and the lackluster exterior styling make Tesla a strong contender for this list.

Nissan Kicks
"Gotta be the Nissan Kicks. It gets bonus boring points for replacing the Juke, which was at least interesting. You either hated the looks, or loved it. Nobody feels anything for the Kicks."
Would you look at that, another bland SUV.

Dodge Journey
"Low hanging fruit, but Dodge Journey? It's so old, it has some elements of the Daimler era. Oh sure, so do the Durango and Challenger, but those aren't boring to me and many here."
The Dodge Journey is another car that has finally been discontinued. But that won't stop this uninteresting utility vehicle from clogging up our roads for years to come.

Chevrolet Blazer
"It's too easy to say 'any CUV.' So I'll single one out: Chevy Blazer.
"It *could* have been a competitor to the Ford Bronco. But for some reason, Chevy didn't want to capitalize on the nutso off-road market, and added another generic CUV to their stable of 37 generic CUVs.
"It *could* have been cool. Tough(ish) Blazer to compete with the Bronco Sport, and Trailblazer to compete with the Bronco. It's not like they didn't see this coming. Toyota and Jeep have been happily selling off-road capable vehicles for ages, and the Raptor told Ford there was a market for more. It's like GM has spent the last decade assuming it's all a fad.
"So I say the Blazer is THE most boring vehicle on the road not just because it's yet another boring CUV, but because of what it isn't.
"And the EV isn't going to redeem it."
I'll admit, I do like what Chevrolet has done with the new Blazer EV, but making the SUV segment exciting is a tough ask.

Kia Rio
"I'm gonna say the Kia Rio 4 door. I didn't even know they still made this thing."
File this one away with cars you don't know still existed.

All of Them
"Good lord, how do you make this decision? 98% of the cars on the road are boring AF to look at.
"I asked my son what kind of car he wanted for his 18th birthday and his response was, "whatever, they all look the same to me". He's not wrong, but it did break my heart a little that not even young people can get excited about cars these days."
You make a fair point, oldbulldog22.
