Losing one's scallop guts is a terrible thing, especially if they're part of a university research project. But blue Chevrolet sedans from the University of Maine motor pool being what they are, it's pretty easy to inadvertently put your scallop guts in the back of the wrong car.
Luckily for a scallop diver who had collected a bunch of guts for a research project at U Maine's Darling Marine Center, the person who drove off with them was an honest professor from the same institution. Word spread quickly via Facebook, and the guts made it back to their rightful owners before disappearing into the shadowy cabal of black market scallop guts trading. (Hat tip to Joshua!)
