7.) Banjo Matthews

Who he was: Edwin Keith "Banjo" Matthews never won a Nascar race, but he's best remembered for his abilities as a car builder. He was responsible for no less than 72 percent of the winning cars in Nascar from 1974 to 1985. He died in 1996.

2.) Wolfgang Alexander Albert Eduard Maximilian Reichsgraf Berghe von Trips

Who he was: Wolfgang von Trips, as everyone called him, was one of the last great aristocratic gentleman drivers who defined motor racing's early years. He came from a noble family in the Rhineland and competed in Formula One from '56 to his death at the Italian Grand Prix in '61.

Who he is: Richard Trickle never won a points-earning race in Nascar, but was considered to be "America's winningest driver" for his extremely successful career in short track racing. He got his start when he was thirteen years old in 1954 and had his last race in 2001.
