A lot of people love the Porsche Cayenne. And a lot of people love to hate the Porsche Cayenne. But no matter your feelings, you cannot deny how outstandingly it drives. Even the diesel model is an above average performer.
And now Porsche is unleashing the Cayenne Turbo S, which is faster than nearly every car on the road.
The new uber-SUV will have the 550 horsepower turbocharged V8 out of the Panamera Turbo S, which is enough to scoot this 4,883 pound SUV to 60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds, which is the same as a new 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.
And it'll keep going to a top speed of 175 MPH. In an SUV. That seems excessive.
There are the usual Porsche acronyms, like PDCC, PTV+ and PASM (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and Porsche Active Suspension Management) on board, as well as a standard Sport Chrono Package... in case you were planning on going to a track day.
Out back, there is a big wing, on the road, there are 21 inch 911 Turbo wheels, and at the front there are some huge air inlets that have been painted black.
You won't even be getting terrible gas mileage on the way to that speed. Porsche is predicting a combined 17 MPG for the new truck.
There is no PDK double clutch transmission for this car, instead we get the Tiptronic S. On the inside there are healthy doses of leather and carbon fiber.
Expect it to be ludicrously expensive, we're guessing realistically in the $150,000 range, when it goes on sale early next year.
