Porsche claims the new 918 recorded a 7:14 time around the Nordschleife, making it two seconds faster than the eternal King of the ‘Ring, the Nissan GT-R. That's what $753,180 buys you these days.
The Sports Car Guys points out that we don't know how many fractions of a second the 918's lap took (other cars have run in the 7:14 range), but we do know it had stock tires and the "Weissach Package" track pack .
Of course ‘Ring records are about as scientific as potato sack races, but it's nice to see that Porsche built the fastest production hybrid ever, even if it had a massive price advantage.
