If your dream is to take your children to school all while annihilating your tires with the miraculous power of the 707-horsepower Hellcat engine, you may not have much longer to wait. We think the Charger Hellcat is coming to this year's Woodward Dream Cruise near Detroit.
Earlier this morning Jalopnik reader Skwimjim emailed us with this bit of information:
I am listening to the Dave & Chuck the Freak (101 WRIF Detroit) live event show this morning and they just had Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis on the air for an interview. He broke news that Tuesday, August 12, they will be making an announcement about a new performance model and will be showing whatever that vehicle is at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
I really should listen to more Dave & Chuck the Freak in the Morning, get my car news that way.
I emailed the folks at Dodge to confirm this and I never heard back. But now Road & Track, citing spy photo agency Chris Doane Automotive, is reporting the same thing. So I believe it.
Now, Kuniskis never apparently said exactly which performance car was coming to Woodward, but what else could it be? I'd put money on the Dodge Charger Hellcat, unless they're doing something crazy with the Viper we haven't heard about.
This year's cruise is Aug. 16. I hope we see it there.
