SRT Needed A Competition To Choose A Boring Name For This Viper Blue

That's it. 'Competition Blue' is the name of this fantastic color on the 2014 SRT Viper. After holding a nationwide contest last month, that was the best name Chrysler got. Really.

It's a decent name, I'll give it that. But it's far from creative. It sounds a lot like Competition Orange from Ford. Actually, couldn't any color be Competition something? Competition Beige, anyone?

Chicago resident Patryk Skarzynski was the first to nominate Competition Blue in the contest that received more than 11,000 entries, according to the Chrysler people. Competition Blue was one of three finalists, picked by judges, that went up for an online vote. Now, I can see why Viral Blue didn't win, because it sounds like an airborne illness. Overtaking Blue, on the other hand, is fantastic. I don't know how overtaking can be blue, but it sounds cool.

For winning, Skarzynski gets a trip to the 2014 24 Hours at Daytona and to chat with the Viper designers, who will undoubtedly ask him where he got the inspiration for the name. I'd like to know as well.

So, who had a better name for this color?
