According to the Rover SD1's Wikipedia entry, only 800 of these fine examples of British Leyland craftsmanship- badged as the Rover 3500- were exported to the United States. Here's one that beat the odds for quite a while.
I found this car in an East Bay junkyard while looking for door panel test subjects for the Junkyard Nightmare Build Quality Challenge from last weekend. Someone has already grabbed the Rover V8 (which seems odd, given the ready availability of the larger and more powerful versions of this engine to be found in junked Range Rovers), but plenty of trim and interior pieces remain. Perhaps some lucky California SD1 owner will grab those parts before The Crusher chows down on a rare British snack.
