Run Some Laps At Daytona In The Incredible Mazda6 Diesel Race Car

Of all the cars racing in the 24 Hours of Daytona today, few have generated as much attention, controversy and even lust as the diesel Mazda6 racecar. We love diesels for their torque and fuel efficiency, and we love them even more when they can put 400 horsepower to the rear wheels like this one can.

Generating all that power from just a 2.2-liter twin-turbo four cylinder, the Mazda6 will be running in the alt-fuel GX class today.

Wondering what it sounds like to be in a car like that? Us too, but thankfully, our friends at Road & Track were able to hook us up with some in-camera footage of the car, and the noise is pretty insane.
