Volvo won't sell you a V8 anymore, and soon you won't be able to get anything that has more than four cylinders. However, they're sticking the V8 you used to get in an XC90 in S60s bound for the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship. With some modifications, of course.
What started out as a 4.4-liter, 60-degree aluminum V8 has been enlarged to a 5.0 that runs on E85. There's no word on power, but judging from Polestar's past racing events it's bound to make more than 600 horses. Oh, and it revs to 7,500.
So, while normal people are going to have to make do with an S60 and V60 Polestar powered by just six cylinders and making a measly 350 horses, know that there's still a V8-powered Volvo out there screaming.
