Henry Ford College in Loughborough, England, will host the FIRST LEGO League final this weekend. Ford designers and engineers will help coach the nine to 16 year old participants in the competition, who will build functional "ocean-going craft" capable of performing several tasks. Malcolm Thomas, engineering director of a nearby Ford facility at Dunton, notes that "the skills and techniques learnt by participants are the same as those used daily by Ford engineers."
