This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition, where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot. Looks like we've got an International DOTS-O-Rama going on, so let's head to Southeast Asia.
The Nissan NV is a big van, so the badging on this little cartruck is a bit puzzling. We're guessing it's some sort of truck-ized Sentra variety, but can't say for sure. Here's what Ryan has to say about his find:
I bought a Honda CB400 in Bangkok a couple months ago, and since then I've clocked about 6000 miles riding all over the countryside of mainland SE Asia (including the deluge that was F1 at Sepang in Malaysia). There's a fabulous car culture here, even if they have somewhat questionable aesthetic taste in terms of body kits and gaudy chrome stick-ons and LEDs.
In Thailand, I've had occasional sightings of this aMAZing Nissan camino called the Nv. It's taken me weeks to find a decent example of one parked where I could get photos. Finally, I found this beauty in Chiang Mai a couple days back, so I thought I'd share. You'll find lots more photos online.
I haven't been able to learn much about the Nv, since a google search only yields results in Thai. I know they ran from '94 to '01, and that they have a 1.6 liter 16 valve four-banger (presumably the same as the Sentra and the NX?). I also know that I need to bring one home with me, and swap in an SR20DET.
