Other than its new rear-wheel drive coupe, the Scion FR-S, Toyota has rightfully earned a place as one of the most conservative and boring brands in all the car world.
But they just filmed an add for the new Auris with an Israeli person who identifies as trangender. That's pretty far from conservative. Warning: Technically there's nothing more NSFW than a person in a speedo, but your coworkers might give you a sideways look.
Instead of the typical boring Toyota ad, or one of those terrible ones with the kid that hates everything his parents do, Toyota brought in an 19-year old from Tel Aviv for the commercial shoot. It's definitely risque and far away from the normal Toyota comfort zone.
Will it help sell cars? Who knows. But it has received a lot of attention. This video has been on YouTube for three days and has nearly 500,000 views. That's gotta count for something.
Hat Tip to Ryo!
