McLaren Shocker (Not): Alonso Out

At last, the other shoe has dropped to the floor. McLaren announced today that co-star driver Fernando Alonso is leaving the team with two years left on his contract, following a "mutual parting of ways." In an issued statement, McLaren's Ron Dennis said the team and Alonso had reached an impasse, and Alonso says he never felt at home with the Vodafone-sponsored, Mercedes-powered squad, though it was once his dream to race there. No replacement has been announced, and there's no confirmation Toyota will back a Brinks' truck up to Alonso's house for next season. (Thanks to Henry for the tip.) [Formula 1]
