Alonso Back to Renault? What About Toyota?

The tabloiding of Formula One racing continues unabated. Germany's Bild magazine reports McLaren's Fernando Alonso has has signed a letter of intent to rejoin Renault starting in January '08. That document, Bild says will give way to a three-year contract if Alonso's current deal with McLaren, which expires in 2008, can be reneged. The Renault report follows a spate of Alonso-heavy page inches this month, asserting he was preparing to join Ferrari, and that Toyota's offered him a mamajama retainer of $150 million.
