Let's All Sign Up for the Nanny State! Is Compulsory Stability Control Coming?

We're really of two minds on this. We've been a passenger in a car, piloted by a bad driver, during a trip that resulted in a rather spectacular single-car pileup which could've most likely been prevented had the Peugeot she was driving been equipped with stability and traction control. We've also enjoyed worry-free throttle-mashing at Sunset and La Cienega in the rain in an overpowered, traction-control-equipped vehicle. Yet sometimes we wanna burn rubber. Haze the hides. Smoke the baloneys. Hang the ass out without dropping our pants. The gov't is considering mandatory stability nannies, and we don't know if we like that, unless the systems are disableable...able. Really, though, we wish they'd just start mandating well-sorted chassis. [Thanks to CTE for the tip.]
