The Jaguar F-PACE is finally here to do what Range Rovers do so well: be bigger and sell like hotcakes. It’s spacious alright, but is it as sexy as a proper Jaguar should be? Let’s chat with the guy who designed it.

Jag’s Head of Design Ian Callum calls us “the troublemakers” with a smile on his face, and we love him too, so I was really happy to catch up with him again in Edinburgh just a few weeks ago. We talked about the XE and the F-PACE, and he explained that since they have strictly set volumes to fit shapes into, he considers both cars to be as wild as they could possibly be.

Looking at the F-PACE, I’m not complaining at all. Despite not liking crossovers in general, the F-PACE looks like one I could rock. Now, I didn’t spend too much time with the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but I found that it sure ticks the practicality box just fine.

I’m tall enough, yet there was plenty of space all around me at the back with two blokes sitting in the front comfortably. And the trunk looks decent too...

Of course the F-PACE has to pack much more than a large enough boot and some happy passengers at the rear to be successful, so to see what makes it special, let’s walk through its design with Ian Callum himself:

Will that do, ladies and gentlemen?
