Just yesterday on Jalopnik we asked for some of the best military vehicles in action. Here's another to add to the list: A Filson-trimmed AEV that recalls WWII-era army Jeeps.
A few weeks ago I had a little seat time in the regular-spec AEV Brute Double Cab, a heavily modified Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that becomes an off-roading pickup with some re-tuned suspension and plenty of other add-ons. AEV, whose manufacturing base is in Wixom, is broadening their lineup a bit with a partnership with Filson, a Seattle-based outdoors outfitter.
I drove the 3.6L V-6 Brute Cab, but the Filson edition is only available with Chrysler's 6.4L HEMI V-8. Filson adds twill and leather seats, brass accents and a rear-seat organizer outfitted with custom Filson bags.
It's like an early-90s Banana Republic on wheels! Just kidding. I think this thing looks pretty cool. If you've got an extra $130,000 lying around, you can purchase it right from Filson's website.
Filson also linked up with Shinola, the Detroit-based bike company that you've probably read about if you've read a single story about Detroit business in the last few months. The made-in-Detroit Bixby bike, pictured below with custom saddlebags and bamboo fenders , will run you $2,900.
