Here's something for all you patriots who thought the EcoBoost name was for sissies, pinkos, libtards, hippies and other undesirable elements who don't love freedom: Ford is moving to trademark the name "EcoBeast" for future cars, trucks and/or engines. ECOBEAST!
The website Motrolix uncovered a Dec. 22 application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to use the name for "automobiles and automobile engines." Here's what they dug up:
Normally, patent applications should never be taken as confirmation of future products. Lots of times automakers (and companies in other fields) apply for the names to keep competitors from doing the same, or to renew older names set to expire.
But with the next Ford Raptor widely speculated to use a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, this aggressive nameplate certainly sounds appropriate. Or could it refer to something else entirely, like turbocharged V8 or even V10 engines?
What does it mean? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!? I don't know, but maybe we'll find out soon enough.
