Ford is offering Mustang owners a wider menu of aftermarket tweaks, while heightening the profile of its Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) business. It's offering three enhancement packages for 2005 and 2006 Mustang GT models: A bolt-on "Power Pack" (FR1) that provides a "throatier" exhaust note and a horsepower increase for the 4.6-liter V8 via a new mass air meter and Ford Racing premium fuel calibration. A "Drag Pack" (FR2) includes a 4.10:1 final drive ratio, exhaust headers, short-throw shifter, and the mass air meter and premium fuel calibration from the Power Pack. A stance-lowering "Handling Pack" (FR3) includes suspension dampers, springs, anti-roll bars, and a strut tower brace. Ford will likely have an army of headset-wearing convention bots to introduce the packages at the SEMA show next week. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
