Ford is following the same sucessful strategy it did more than forty years ago, when it introduced the first-generation Mustang. The company expanding its range of options on 2006 Mustangs to keep sales momentum as feverish as possible. In addition to new interior packages for both V6 and GT models, V6 model will be offered with a "pony package" that includes suspension upgrades and 17-inch tires on cast-aluminum painted wheels, a styled grille and round fog lamps. For the GT, new tire/wheel combinations will be offerred (up to 18") as well as traction control and an driver-assist "automatic breaking system." At this rate, we should have a Mach I version by decade's end.
