Ford Tempo Hoonage Ends In Tragedy

It sounds like your standard hoonage scenario: get a $300 '84 Ford Tempo, Sawzall the roof and doors off, set up a ramp by a lake near Greeley, Colorado, and jump the car into the lake at the highest speed the old heap can manage. The jump went off as planned, with the car managing 40 miles per hour. Unfortunately, one of the participants, 18-year-old David Griego, couldn't swim (perhaps because he was injured in the landing), and he drowned post-splashdown. As sad reminders go, it's just about the worst case imaginable.
