A spike strip spelled the end for 24-year-old Roman Bernal's high speed chase across four counties in Northern California yesterday. Bernal didn't seem too troubled by it though.
The strip took out his front driver's side tire, as local news reports, and he rolled his 1999 Pathfinder not terribly long afterwards. Here is video of the dramatic wreck.
The chase started because apparently Bernal wouldn't pull over for speeding. He led the officers at speeds that approached 100 until it all came to an end.
As it turns out, Bernal and I are from the same town. (Yeah, Davis!) I, however, don't think I could ever be as nonchalant as he is.
