Craig Robinson, host of the new show Caraoke Showdown in which people sing in cars for your amusement has addressed claims that it’s a ripoff of Carpool Karaoke, in which people sing in cars for your amusement. Totally different! Well, er.

The new show (that’s Caraoke Showdown on Spike) is hosted by Craig Robinson and is something like Cash Cab but with karaoke, so there are contestants and prizes and new reasons for me to fear ever getting into a cab ever please don’t make me sing I’ll do anything.

Robinson explained to The Hollywood Reporter that this is totally different from Carpool Karaoke because, uh, reasons:

Robinson pointed out that his series lends the mic to “regular people on a game show, not great singers [on a late-night show].”

Robinson, who has been on Corden’s popular late-night segment, relented that the two shows maybe kind of sorta 100% hit the same Facebook receptors in our brain:

Still, the two are similar enough. “I hope he’s not upset about that,” Robinson told THR at a War Dogs premiere in New York City. “He’s a great host — I’ve been on his show and we did a duet, and it was right up my alley. He gets it. I have nothing but respect for him.”

I look forward to avoiding both of these shows as much as humanly possible please do not sing at me please let me just have this moment of peace in my own vehicle let me live.
