Former athlete turned generic famous person Bruce Jenner is going to be racing in the Baja 1000, one of the world's best-known extreme off-road events, this afternoon with his son Burt. It's a tremendously ambitious undertaking for a casual racer, so, good luck I guess!
TMZ says that Jenner and Jenner are racing on somebody else's dime, which is always the way to go even if you are already rich. They're running with Potts Racing out of Scottsdale, Arizona.
"Team owner Craig Potts, along with sponsors Gladiator Tires and House Beer, are putting up all the cash. We're told Burt will drive the 1st 400 miles with Bruce navigating, then Bruce will take the wheel for the 2nd leg ... and Potts gets the home stretch," specifies TMZ.
Jenner's daughter Cassandra Marino recently told People, "He just wants to be with [my brothers]. He spends time racing with them, he spends a lot of time in the race car world."
It's not Bruce's first time racing vehicles (he's even done some high-level winning), but the event is long and brutal... and even part of it is going going to be tough on 65-year old Bruce. His son is 35. Nevertheless, I can't think of many better ways to bond. Have fun, fellas!
