I am less concerned with the odometer reading on its own than I am by how a frequent odometer reading could be combined with other data that is already being collected (toll booths, traffic cameras, those insane license plate scanners on cop cars) to tell anybody with access an awful lot about your personal habits.

I think it is a question of frequency. With daily, or even hourly, odometer readings being transmitted (like from those new insurance thingies, possibly) I think you might be surprised how much someone could figure out about your habits. Read more

I think it’ll be interesting to see how much the *option* of more than 4-cylinders affects buying choices. At least from my anecdotal experience, most new 5-series are 4-cyls (528) and Mercedes is going 4-cyl base with the new E300.
