I’ll usually also keep the receipt because more than once, I’ve swiped my card in the machine and got gas, drove off and then either the person at the station is chasing me down, or 30 minutes later I’m pulled over by the cops for not paying for the gas. Read more

While its not impossible, if you do use a card you will have a record of when and where you got charged on your card for the gas. You dont always need a receipt, but it just makes things easier if it goes bad, like your examples. Read more
