my timeshare condo is at the end of that runway. All I do is sit and drink beer and watch planes land and take off. I have seen them this close a few times, and just about touch. The climbout from there is ridiculous too on the other end. Dont climb out hard enough, into the mountain you go.

Having a good amount of skydiving experience let me clarify some points:
The instructor deployed the student's reserve parachute, which is designed to be more stable and reliable than the main parachute. This gave them the best chance of opening without any malfunctions. Read more
