I was in high school and this was mine. A kid in my class had one(rich boy) and I wanted it so bad. He wouldn't even give me a ride
I was just in LA about 10 days ago, and the worst thing I experienced, besides the high cost of parking, was the congestion. There is not a major US city that doesn't have it's of really bad drivers. Ever been in Las Vegas at rush hour? Ever tried the Strip on a weekend? Bad drivers are EVERYWHERE! Read more
I also don't have a picture to prove this story either, since I haven't been to this cemetery in a long time, but in the Tooele City Cemetery(west of Salt Lake City, Ut), there's a headstone of a young man with an engraving of his mid 80's Monte Carlo on it, one of those with the tiny wheels and tires when that was… Read more

My first and only Plymouth was a 69 Roadrunner, bought in the summer of 1971. Yes I am that old. After owning the car for about 6 months, it was discovered to have been "rode hard and put away wet" —the car had so many problems, but damn it was fast. Just your basic 383, auto trans, AM radio, no air, bench seat. I was… Read more

@CypressCarNut- Who's gonna build excitement now?: At the small car museum in one of the casinos in Laughlin NV, they have an International Pickup, customized with a raised roof, used in the John Wayne movie, "Hatari". I was so looking forward to his resignation in 1974, long before the days of 24 hr TV news and the internet-but I had been scheduled to have 4 impacted wisdom teeth out on the Friday he resigned and couldn't put them off, since my wife was 8.5 months pregnant at the time. I have always regretted missing that broadcast… Read more
I've said this on Jalopnik before...my mother used to tell me that I could tell the difference between a Ford or a Chevy before I was 3 years old..but had trouble telling the difference between a cow and horse. I can't remember not loving cars. Owning them, not so much. But I love looking, reading, Jalopnik-ing(is… Read more
