Rob, the “This Old House” of cars does exists (or did for 13 seasons).

This was my neighbor in his properly sorted high mileage and original owner from new for more than 60yrs.

I dunno - I have had both a 1992 Grand Marquis and a 2005 Town Car and really - for the size of the thing the fuel mileage was pretty damn good I thought. I used the TC for a commuter (40 mile RT freeway) and it never gave me less than 22 mpg. Can’t recall what the GM gave but it wasnt much worse. Read more

A few useful things for big jobs. A small table to lay stuff out on, or a service cart so you have space for parts and tools near the vehicle. Muffin tins, for organizing small stuff. Leverage is your friend.  I go by the old adage of “with a big enough lever I could move the world.”  If I can’t break a bolt with ease using my 3/8" long handle I immediately grab my much longer 1/2" ratchet (it is breaker bar length 24" or so).  I also try to use power tools wherever possible to make the job Read more
