Positive bag match is only required on international flights. This was instated after PanAm 103, which blew up over Scotland in 1988. In the U.S., every bag is scanned for explosives prior to flight whether it's carried on or going under the plane, so it shouldn't make a difference (safety-wise) what flight the bags… Read more
