“Vapid” is GTA’s fake “Ford,” brand, so like the Vapid Sand King is a fake Ford Raptor/F-250/monster truck, this a fake Ford GT, (though as I said, I do think it looks much more like this Ferrari). There are some other ones... basically a running theme of the whole game is teasing southern California about being Read more

Excellent article. I think it’s valuable to give us non-engineers a peak into how much know-how and testing goes into every aspect of a new vehicle design. Read more

I love this article.  What a great in-depth write-up.  I do remember them specifically saying the lower diesel tow rating due to the intercooler in the initial interviews, so I don’t think that’s a secret.  But that said, I think this article really made me understand the whole setup better.  Nicely done! I was going to ask Mike why he put the three there, then paused, then looked at it again and was like ‘oh it just looks cool’ and moved on. Read more

I have a colleaugue who bought one of these as a daily driver.  He speaks really highly of it with about three months ownership.  He got rid of his Jeep for this.  His other car is an R8.  He has also owned a number of Z’s over the years. Read more

Excellent Raptor commentary, but I wouldn’t recommend it to one who wants on-road performance driving. I rented a V8 Raptor (Turo) for a week and came away surprised. It rides like a super luxo barge! Kinda drives like one too. Not very precise steering, huge and wide as hell, super roomy inside, gulps fuel; I got Read more

I owned a 2012 E63 wagon... for 9 months.  The reason I sold it was because of the extremely harsh ride and very loud road noise.  I wasn’t expecting soft suspension (it is an AMG after all) but it didn’t hold a candle to compliant older BMW M cars I’ve driven. Read more

Just rent a Home Depot truck when you actually need to haul stuff. Read more

I feel like this post could kick off a whole sub-thread about different perspectives of what is comfortable. An E63 is luxurious, but I would not describe it as comfortable. The seats in our test car were very hard and the ride was definitely on the stiff side.
