It’s all tested and validated; nbd in the ice! Read more

Yup. Forgot a zero (thanks!). Imagine if it were 0.01; ags with benefits in the trend would literally drop the drag by a third; we’d definitely have made the vertical system one way or another! Read more

There’s soooo much room for Rivian to chop the price. This is a top-trim truck with an amazing interior, quad-motor system, and large battery pack. Go to a twin motor system, throw in some cloth seats, kill the real wood trim, slap in some coil springs, and decrease the pack size — that could cut the price by at least Read more

Sadly, I can’t really tell you more about where we drove, as I’m not familiar with the area.

As for the tires: I liked them. They offer a great on-road/off-road balance, though yes, someone in my group also popped a tire. And though I can attribute some of that to inexperienced drivers (compounded by the truck’s Read more

For context to everyone unaware, this commenter wrote the book on four-wheel drive (basically):

It’s hard to answer the “off-road range” question, just as it’s hard to answer “towing range.”

It all depends on the terrain/load. It’s all a big energy balance equation — drag, rolling resistance, elevation gain, etc etc.

I can tell you that our trucks started with about 200 miles of range, we off-roaded it for three Read more

So here’s the thing: At speed (when there’s good coolant flow and airflow), the engine temp reads right on the money.

I suppose it’s possible that the sending unit just isn’t seeing coolant at low engine speeds.... Read more

Even if the brakes are dragging, I should be able to hold the car in drive with the vehicle not moving and not have to worry about overheating.

Really, what I need to do is get my motor dialed in to the point where I can have the prescribed idle speed (550 RPM in drive). Then take it from there. Read more

Yes.

Which is why I should probably figure out what’s going on here, because MY REPUTATION IS ON THE LINE. :D Read more

I’ll let a powertrain engineer hop in here, though my understanding is that BMEP, which literally corresponds to the vertical forces pushing the pistons down, is one thing that can have an effect on engine longevity.
