Chris Economaki, the man frequently called the "dean of American motorsports journalism," has passed away at age 91. Economaki had been in racing journalism since he was 14, and was at the helm of National Speed Sport News for nearly 60 years.

When he wasn't writing for his weekly paper, Economaki could be found contributing to TV broadcasts like ABC's coverage of IndyCar as well as NASCAR coverage.

Above is when he interviewed Ayrton Senna after winning the 1986 Detroit GP. He was both a character and unflappable.

He will be missed.
