It’s called the Abarth 2000 Pininfarina. It’s 40 years old. It also doesn’t exist. What a shame.
Whatever explains the surge of creativity that was supercar design around 1970, whether LSD-25 or the halo effect of Project Apollo, it is something sorely missing from our world. Pictured here is just one of many chimeras of race car and spaceship from the era, the Abarth 2000 Pininfarina. Not much more than a design study, it makes for shortness of breath not unlike the cumulative effect of two pack of cigarettes a day for a decade or two.
And while the giant and slightly ludicrous perspex windshield-roof might make sunny days unbearable, surely you would want to go for a ride, wouldn’t you?
