Back in 1999, the United Nations declared that the 4th through the 10th of October would be known as World Space Week. With this resolution, the General Assembly sought to “celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.”

Investment in space has brought humanity innumerable advancements and understanding of our universe, from memory foam to last week’s discovery of water on Mars. What an incredible time to be alive!

To commemorate UN World Space Week, Flight Club is bringing you a space-themed story every day through next Saturday. And to kick off our focus on the final frontier, below are some of our best posts from the Spacelopnik archives.
