Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. The Barracudas and Super Bees get all the attention, but the good ol' Valiant never disappeared.

This clean Valiant sedan is a common sight on the island, clearly getting quite a bit of everyday use. While it's mathematically possible that this car came from the factory with a 273 V8, I'm willing to bet that there's a Slant Six under that Refrigerator White hood. Will it still be driving in another 41 years? Why not?

We've seen plenty of Chrysler A-bodies down on the Alameda street; the most recent one was the Nixon's The One '62 Valiant. Other Valiants include this black '61, this red '61, this '71, this '71, and this '73. Don't forget the A-body Barracudas: This '65, this '65, this '66, and this '67. We've also seen many Darts, including this '64 Dart coupe, this '64 Dart wagon, this '66 Dart GT, this '69 Dart GT convertible, another '69 Dart GT convertible, this '70 Dart, and this '75 Dart Swinger.
