See The Electric Scout Terra Pickup And Traveler SUV From Every Wonderful Angle

Both the Terra and Traveler are built on a new Scout-only body-on-frame platform — no crossover shit here — with an 800-volt battery pack of unknown size and a pair of electric motors. In its best spec, they’ll have 1,000 pound-feet of torque and a 3.5-second 0-to-60-mph time. Scout is targeting a range of over 350 miles for the EVs.

If that’s not enough for you, both models will be offered with a small gas engine that acts as a generator, raising the range to more than 500 miles. Scout hasn’t said where the range extender will go, but I’m guessing under the rear floor/bed behind the rear axle.

These things are big. Scout hasn’t given dimensions, but the Terra has a 5-foot-5-inch bed, which is a foot longer than a Rivian R1T’s. 35-inch tires are available and seen in these images, too.

Scout says the duo will have over 12 inches of ground clearance, almost three feet of water fording capability, a front sway bar disconnect, mechanical front and rear lockers, and various suspension options. The truck can tow over 10,000 pounds, while the SUV will pull more than 7,000 pounds.

The light-surrounded black masks at the front and rear look great, and the Scouts have legit bumpers. Even heavier-duty bumpers with a built-in winch will be offered as a factory accessory, too.

The illuminated Scout scripts are a nice touch.

Both versions of the Scout will have a frunk that can fit golf clubs, a gym bag and a cooler, with built-in power outlets too.

Scout says it didn’t want to cover the trucks in too much unnecessary cladding and other add-ons; instead it focused on clean surfacing and broad shoulders.

The Traveler has a clear connection to old Scouts in its profile and window shape, but none of the retro stuff is too annoying or kitschy. I think it looks rad as hell.

Scout will be using a direct sales model, with customers able to easily order and purchase online in seconds. There will be dedicated retail spaces and service centers called Scout Workshops, though 80 percent of repairs will be able to be accomplished at home via mobile servicing.

Scout says both models will start at under $60,000 before incentives, with the Traveler going as low as $50,000 and the Terra getting down to $51,500 — that means the pre-tax-credit prices will likely be $57,500 for the Traveler and $59,000 for the Terra.

The Traveler has a split tailgate with a separate swing-out mount for the spare tire.

The interior looks great, with an emphasis on physical controls and an awesome mix of materials. You’ll be able to spec them with a front bench seat instead of that center console, too.

An available Cabana Top cloth roof offers one of the largest openings of any SUV. Plus it just looks cool.
