For yesterday’s Monday edition of Question Of The Day, I asked you, the readers of Jalopnik, what interesting or noteworthy vehicles you’d seen over the weekend. As it turns out, I wasn’t the only person who happened across a kei van recently. That’s good to hear: They have a way of brightening up even the cloudiest days, don’t they?

This was a fun exercise, but as one reader suggested, perhaps next week’s version should be more of a “show us what you’ve got in your garage” type deal. More on that below. With that said, here are some standout responses in a format that I know nobody likes but we sort of have to do because it keeps the lights on. (Plus, on mobile these read as a normal scrolling article anyway. Just saying.)

The picture is from a while ago, but I walked past this one at the weekend, always raises a smile.

I don’t have any sympathy for Corona or its corporate parent, Cervecería Modelo, but I hope recent world events haven’t harmed this little guy’s demeanor or reputation. Let our buddy here stand tall as a reminder of simpler, happier, sunnier times.

If one counts Thursday as the weekend…

Sure it does! It’s no fire truck, but any Honda Acty is an Acty worth snapping a picture of.

Old yeller sure stuck out in the Mt. Bachelor ski area parking lot:

Good color. If you’re about to buy a new truck and you have the ability to get it in yellow, please know that you’re letting the world down if you don’t.

It was a few weeks ago but it was a weekend so I still think it’s valid. Haha. Plus I didn’t really leave my house this weekend so this is all I got.

It takes a brave soul to drive a PT Cruiser in the year 2022 and an ever braver one to put all this work into theirs. Much like pop music 15 years after it’s gotten way too big and subsequently gone out of style, these are becoming sort of endearing again.

On the Entrance to Northstar Ski Resort around Lake Tahoe on Saturday. Going to Homewood today and Heavenly and Kirkwood the rest of the week. Bunch of overlanders with people Van Lifing. Saw a Miata in the parking lot. Lots of Teslas and one Porsche with the top down. It was 50

The overlanders, van lifers and Miatas have woken up from their slumber, and you love to see it. Or probably kind of hate it if you’re stuck behind a train of them — but anyway, let’s stay positive.

Who Couldn’t Use A HiAce?

Who Couldn’t Use A HiAce?

I didn’t take any photos, but I did see two interesting vehicles on I-20/59 while heading to Meridian, MS last Friday.

One was a white Toyota HiAce passenger van with a high roof and Mexican plates, headed towards possibly Birmingham, Nashville or Atlanta. I usually see a lot of Mexican-badges cars on the Interstate, but the HiAce is the rarest one. This would be the third one I’ve seen in around 5 years.

The second one made me a double take. It was a Mitsubishi Delica 4WD.I couldn’t tell if the plates were California or Oregon. I’ve never seen one in the wild before.

Japanese vans are making a comeback and that has me hopeful for the future.

Maybe the most interesting was the Ford Maverick... and me thinking how much over MSRP they had to go to get it.

You know, I hear these things are going like crazy but I’m still not seeing a ton on the road. In fact, for me so far it’s only been one — in California, back in November. Give it time, I guess.

This SVX was actually submitted by our own Andy Kalmowitz, who found it somewhere in Pennsylvania. Every time I see an SVX, which is admittedly not often anymore, I think about the one I almost bid on at Cars & Bids back in 2020. I don’t regret not bidding but sometimes wonder if I should, because it ended up going for pretty cheap.

Gonna say straight up, you want a full article, ask your audience to show THEIR garages.

Because we have some very fine vehicles and photos of.

Very true, Markoff8585! That’s a well-loved Montero you have there, and the framing of the shot with the deer back there is lovely, too.

We caught many of you off guard with the request, which is on us. It’s hard to post pictures you didn’t know to take before being asked to share them. So here’s the plan for next week: On Monday, I’m going to ask y’all for shots of your cars. As the comment here says, if you’re familiar with these parts, chances are quite good you’re already driving something more interesting than whatever you might come across on a given weekend. Maybe we’ll try this query again down the road, and we’ll let this first attempt be an encouragement to capture cool stuff in our travels. I’ll do the same.
