The Aston Martin Valkyrie was called Project 001. Its trackday special version was called 002. Now Aston has announced that a new 003 is coming in 2021. Interesting.
We don’t have any other great details about what the car will be short of the sketch shown above, but we can see that it looks a lot like the company’s 2014 Vision Gran Turismo digital concept thing, which ran a twin-turbo engine in the middle of the car.
Here’s all we have from Aston’s press release on this 003 with regards to specifics:
Project ‘003’ will be built around a lightweight structure and powered by a turbocharged petrol-electric hybrid engine. Combined with active aerodynamics for outstanding levels of downforce in a road-legal car, active suspension systems providing next-level precision, control and driver connection like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, Project ‘003’ will possess class leading dynamics on both road and track.
Aston says it wants to make 500 of these things in left and right-hand drive, rounding out production in late 2021.
Hm. You know what’s also happening around 2021? The new GT1-style hypercar class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be coming back.
Aston Martin also highlighted that this car will have luggage space.
One of the famous requirements for race cars at Le Mans was having room for luggage in the car, particularly well known in the GT1 era.
Hm.
Interesting indeed.
