The Aston Martin Vantage has been replaced, but for some reason the company is making 14 new, old ones called the Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600. It’s honoring possibly the most wonderful, and dumb car it ever made.
Dumb is a rude word, but it’s hard to find other decent descriptors for the 1998 Aston Martin Vantage V600, which was for a time the most powerful car in the world.
The 600 stood for its power figure, if you’re curious.
It had a twin-supercharged version of Aston’s ancient V8 engine to thank, unless you had to change spark plugs or something, in which thanking would not be the first thought on your mind.
It was the last pre-modern Aston, with bones that stretched back to the original Lagonda for its chassis and even deeper into the 1970s for its engine.
Needless to say, I love it.
And I also love this new one, done by Aston’s special Q branch. It also makes 600 horsepower, as Aston claims, and is uses Aston’s seven-speed manual. New grille, new quad exhausts, too.
Most importantly, look again at those hood vents. Cut right in there. Gorgeous.
