Who raced this Mercedes 190E 2.3-16? I dunno, some joker.

I remember this story (not sure if true or not) that when Mercedes launched this car on Hockenheim they invited a bunch of famous drivers and gave each one a car with their name on it. Senna wasn’t that famous at the time. He was there to replace Fittipaldi who couldn’t attend, so Senna was called to represent Brazil or something like that.

Everyone got an equal car and they were supposed to do a gentlemanly race around the track to show its racing capabilities. Lauda and Senna took it seriously, obviously, and actually raced each other and Senna won. And this was back when Lauda was on his peak.
