As I might have told you earlier, there’s no place like Goodwood. Still unconvinced? Okay, here’s more proof.
This is a place where if you see a Lamborghini Diablo, it’s going to be a VT. If you see a Bugatti EB110, it’s going to be a SuperSport. The Ferrari F40 will be nero, because more than a thousand people have a rosso. And in case there’s a McLaren F1 around, you can bet your ass that Lord March’s garden will also hide a Long Tail GTR, a regular GTR and one of the three road-going GTs as well.
Yes, there are four McLaren F1s here. We’ve seen more, I know, but it’s still an event.
Having all the important Citroën DS versions standing next to each other is also pretty special, but the XJ220 might be the most interesting discovery on the grass. You look at the thing, and it’s a Jaguar XJ220 alright. Except it has a 7 liter IMSA-spec V12 instead of the twin-turbo V6 Jaguar ended up putting in it originally. It was built by Don Law Racing, of course.
You can walk around here all they long, you can grab a Goodwood Sussex Ale, and you still won’t believe any of it. Then, they start up the engines. They do that at 8:30 a.m.
With these engines, it’s a wonderful way to start the day.
And when you get out of the champagne-heavy area, there are cars like this in the shadows. Wow.
