Infiniti proudly pointed out at the debut of the Infiniti Q60 that its predecessor the G35 Coupe was named Motor Trend's COTY under the headline "The King Is Dead." As Omar said, "If you come at the king, you best not miss." History shows they missed.
So will this new Infiniti coupe actually dethrone the 3-Series-cum-4-Series coupe? Doubtful, but it could offer an alternative to the Lexus RC, Audi A5 and other vehicles in the we-don't-have-to-be-BMWs-to-be-good club. It's still a concept, but they did all they could at the unveil to wink and nod that the production version is going to look similar.
We have a while to wait. Like, we have to wait until 2016 for it to hit showrooms. Total blue balls. In other news, it'll get some of the brand's new family of direct-injection V6s, good for some amount of power and some amount of torque.
For now, just look at it. A king it ain't, but maybe a high ranking Earl.
