NOOOOOOO! First Porsche 918 Spyder Burns To Ground In Gas Station Fire

Porsche has never been a company to let Ferrari hog all the glory, so when we heard a LaFerrari went up in flames, we knew a Porsche 918 Spyder wouldn't be far behind. This one in Toronto looks like it was engulfed in an inferno, as befitting any proper supercar. And so, it begins.

Behold, all of your electro-super-hybrid-Porsche dreams burning the ground.

Ironically enough for such an eco-friendly uber-machine, the Spyder got caught burning to the ground at a gas station, and from the looks of it, it's almost certainly a goner:

Judging as how we haven't yet heard of any exploding Canadian gas stations, however, this one might've been put out before the whole establishment combusted in a miniature mushroom cloud. And since it happened at a gas station, it actually is plausible that the fire here originated somewhere with the fueling equipment, rather than the car.

No matter what the cause, there's now one less Porsche 918 Spyder in the world. And for that, we're all a little sad. So pour one out tonight for the dearly departed monster.

Except don't pour out any gasoline. I hear it's flammable.

UPDATE: Judging from the video sent to us by reader Dave Jenkins, the Porsche is pretty much completely toast. That poor, poor Porsche, and also, poor, poor Dave's Girlfriend, who clearly has long been suffering with Dave's automotive obsession:

H/t to Saaboteur and David!
