If you’ve been mourning the death of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 these last five years, you can dry your tears. The GT350 and GT350R have returned for the latest seventh-gen S650 Mustang. You’ll just have to go through Shelby American if you want to buy one, as Ford no longer licenses the Shelby GT350 name for itself.

The 2025 Shelby GT350 and GT350R officially made their debut at the 2025 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The car’s debut coincides with the 60th anniversary of Carroll Shelby introducing the first GT350 on January 27 1965, as CEO Joe Conway said in a release:

Sixty years ago, the Shelby GT350 marked a new chapter in performance and motorsports history. It was Shelby’s first model based on the Ford Mustang, the perfect follow-up to the ground-breaking Shelby Cobra. Shelby American poured its performance expertise into the 1965 Mustang, turning it into an iconic international sports car. We followed the same strategy for 2025 and collaborated with industry leaders to create this very special Shelby car.

Shelby gives buyers options depending on how they want to spec their GT350. If you just want all the Shelby looks and handling performance, you can stick with the Mustang’s stock 5.0-liter V8 with 480 horsepower. Go for the supercharged version and output is increased to 810 horsepower. The GT350 also gets lowering springs, 20-inch forged wheels, a catback exhaust system by Borla, a short-throw shifter for manual-equipped cars, performance tires, unique interior trim and special production plaques. Visually, GT350s have an aluminum hood with a center vent, a lower front splitter, a different grille with wider intakes, and a rear ducktail spoiler.

If that 810 horsepower isn’t enough for you, you can go hardcore with the also supercharged Shelby GT350R, which makes 830 hp. It comes with a bunch more performance goodies so it can easily stand up to track duty. The interior trim, shift knob, hood and fender vents, splitter, spoiler and diffuser are all made out of carbon fiber. Shelby also stiffened the chassis and gave it a carbon-fiber wing, side-exit exhaust with Borla tips, performance tires, a four-point cage, racing brakes, a heavy duty cooling system and adjustable JRI racing shocks.

Shelby American says both the GT350 and GT350R will be made in Michigan by Turn Key Motorsports. Turn Key owner Rich Rinke said he and his company are excited to be working with Shelby to bring these cars to market.

We’re honored to help Shelby American return one of the most iconic names to the track. We are excited to assist Shelby by bridging the connection between consumer and racing. For those who have track experience, the Shelby GT350R offers a high level of performance in a street-legal package.

Of course, none of this performance comes cheap. While Shelby has yet to announce pricing on the GT350R, the standard GT350 will start at $109,995, which Shelby hilariously describes as “affordable.” Keep in mind that includes the $48,850 price of a standard Ford Mustang GT equipped with a manual transmission and the standard 300A equipment group. You’ll also get a 3-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty from Ford. If you want to buy one, you better act fast. Keeping with the nostalgia that is the return of the GT350, Shelby American says it’s only making 562 GT350s, a number that includes the GT350Rs, just as Shelby did originally in 1965.
