While I desperately try to think of a story idea about the Fiat 500 Abarth that isn't just me writing "ohmygoditmakesmesohappy" a thousand times, The Powers That Be have deigned it appropriate to cleanse my pallette with this, a 2014 Buick Regal GS. And yes, it's got three pedals and a six-speed.
I've got it for the next week, so you should expect a review coming shortly. Already I'm pleasantly surprised by a lot of things. Mainly, how un-Buick-like it feels.
Things I Like: The clutch. It is buttery smooth, and kind of wonderful, plus the shifter has delightfully short throws. Also the navigation system is remarkably intuitive and easy to use.
Things I Don't Like: The shifter, while having those wonderfully short throws, is weirdly clunky when trying to get things into gear. And some of the visible "quality" issues, like stitching and leather, aren't exactly up to par. GM's definitely trying, it seems, but there's still some ways to go in this lower-luxury segment.
But I initially expected to be hugely disappointed, when in fact I'm really not. So that's a plus.
If you have any questions about the Buick Regal GS, drop them in the comments and I'll get to them as soon as I can.
